Zayan’s 5th Birthday Celebration
Carousel Birthday Fun
a few months ago, while having our sunday brunch with the kids, we began to chat with Zayan about his upcoming 5th birthday. besides his excitement for turning 5 years old + not being “little” any longer, all he could think of was a carnival theme birthday party.
earlier this year while visiting morocco + paris, we spent the day at Tuileries Garden ( Jardin des Tuileries ) with the kids + they loved it! Zayan kept referring back to that day, all the fun he had on the carousel, + that’s what he wanted for his birthday! a carnival set up with a carousel. now as a mother who wanted to bring his vision to life, i was stuck! where + how to put all this together? it was until a friend mentioned the carousel at the national harbour + i recalled the option to host birthday parties on site.

planning his birthday at the carousel with the help of their staff, especially phyllis, my direct contact, made the whole process more manageable for my fuzzy brain + fatigued pregnant body.
i hired the face painters + balloon artist from clown around town + just like my baby shower i didn’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on cake. i called my trusted baker at harris teether (yup, harris teether!!) sent them images of what i wanted + about $40 later, i was happy with the results!
for the kids, i ordered the chik-n-mini’s inside mini biscuits from chik-fil-a, there were 4 in each mini box + plenty of snack options as well…bananas, clementines, sliced apples, apple sauce, cracker jacks, animal crackers, + a variety of boxed milk/juices. the mini chik-fil-a boxes were a hit! for the adults, we had coffee + pastries.
