Baby Shower

sprinkled with love

geez i haven’t posted on my blog for a bit!!

as most of you already know, it’s because of this little blessing of a girl that i’m carrying. when i first realized i was pregnant, i was over the moon! we were planning on having a third for many reasons + when it  came time to share the gender with our family, we did so, but very privately! by private, i mean, no social media footprint. some things, some times in our very highly publicized lives need to stay private + special for those who are in attendance, to experience the moments in real time, in real life.

for my sprinkle, i thought it would be great to share the details. mainly for inspiration or encouragement. what i mean by encouragement is this: i was debating whether or not to have a sprinkle at all. after a long conversation with a dear friend of mine, she said something that stuck with me, “when you’re given a blessing, something to celebrate, do so without hesitation. this is what life’s about, it’s about celebrating these beautiful blessings.” +, i’ll add this, celebrate within your means. whatever your budget may be, stick below that. don’t ever over extend yourself to keep up with what you may see on social media! make it uniquely you, pull items from your existing decor to add the little details.

i’ve shared a few of the items you see here below in a clickable link.

since pregnant this time around, i’d been gravitating towards the color maroon. (not red! still not a fan, no matter how long the trend lasts. sound aggressive? it may be my hormones!) therefore, i had to incorporate the color into this sprinkle, with a hint of pink. it was perfect for fall + complimented my home decor. i was limited with the selection of florals available the night before my sprinkle, but i think i pulled this arrangement together well enough? + eucalyptus is a must! greenery makes colors pop!

first baby shower was held at a party room/hall. it was catered, had mostly all the women we knew invited + included all of those dreadful baby shower games. second time around, kept it to a small group at lady camellia in georgetown. lady camellias owner was fabulous to work with. the cake was made from scratch that morning, scones that still make my mouth water + a variety of hot tea one could imagine!

this time, i wanted to keep it very intimate, at home + sprinkle the gal’s attending with a bit of TLC. i invited only the closest + dearest friends in my life. i hired a masseuse for the day, every mama was treated to a massage + it made me happy to give back to each of them in a special way. the gift bags carried the theme of sprinkling my special guest with love, everything from la prairie to encourage self care <3 i catered from moby dick in shirlington, ordered a naked cake from whole foods, decorated the cake myself, my mother made/ordered the afghan pastries (i love her!!) + sprinkled a few other desserts/pastries from whole foods.

what really pulled my sprinkle together was all the beautiful drinkware, serveware, cake stands, + vintage handcarved wooden trays from White Glove Rentals! because i had about a week to plan + execute my sprinkle, there was no way i’d be able to pull all these details i had in mind together without their help! i can’t thank them enough for making the process of placing the order, delivery + pickup seamless. i had come across their page on instagram + what i had in mind for my sprinkle, was exactly what they had in their inventory. it was a match made in baby shower heaven 🙂

the table scape, florals + arranging of the desserts were done by moi, mainly because i’ve realized i’m a bit of a control freak when it comes to how i set up my events. anyone else?

if you’ve got questions, leave them in the comment section below!

food was catered by moby dick in shirlington + they did such a fabulous job of delivering everything ready to serve!

a heartfelt thank you to white glove rentals for simply being amazing + for helping me bring my vision to life.
